Pet Emergency Clinic provides emergency, urgent and critical veterinary care to pet owners in the SW LA and SE TX areas. Open all nights, weekends and holidays, the Pet Emergency Clinic works with your daytime veterinarian for provide 24-hour care for your pets.

Meet Our Dedicated Staff & Doctors!

Dr. Hadley Prince

A native of Sulphur and part of a family veterinary medicine tradition, Dr. Hadley Prince is an LSU Veterinary Medical School graduate. He has been practicing Emergency and Critical Care veterniary medicine at our clinic since 2006. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Prince could be found in the defensive backfield of the McNeese Cowboys football team, where he was an All-AMerican. Now, he is married to Brandi Prince and has 3 daughters, as well as numerous pets.

Dr. Katie Tarver

Dr. Katie Tarver is a Lake Charles native, graduating from Barbe High and attending McNeese State University before being accepted to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.

She graduated from LSU SVM, earning her Doctor of Veterniary Medicine degree in May of 2010, and practiced at Downtown Animal Hospital and Bayou South Animal Hospital before joining the Pet Emergency Clinic doctor team.

Dr. Tarver is proficient at all aspects of veterinary medicine, and has a special interest in surgery.

When not helping pets at the ER, Dr. Tarver is an avid reader and runner.  She is married to local businessman Mr. Eric Tarver.  They have a set of twins, 1 boy and 1 girl. They also have numerous pets to complete her household.

Dr. Kelsey L. D. San Martin

Dr. Kelsey L. D. San Martin, a New Orleans native, moved out to the area in 2017 and started working at the Pet Emergency Clinic shortly after.   Dr. San Martin received her Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Ecology and Management with a minor in Fine Art from Louisiana State University in 2011.  She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015.  Prior to moving out to southwest Louisiana, Dr. San Martin spent a year in mixed animal practice in northwest Florida working heavily with horses and goats and a year in emergency small animal medicine in New Orleans.  Some may recognize her as prior to the hurricanes, she worked at Southwest Louisiana Veterinary Clinic in Sulphur for the last 3 years.   She and her husband, Matt, have three dogs, Leia, a bull terrier, Arya, a lab mix, and Anakin, a black mouth cur mix.  They also have two snakes, Lana, a ball python, and Cisco, a Western hognose, two tarantulas, Jess & Chewy, and a black and white Argentine tegu, Amos.  Dr. San Martin enjoys many interests in veterinary medicine including reptile and small mammal medicine, wildlife/conservation medicine, behavior, and of course, emergency.  When not working, Dr. San Martin enjoys spending time outside with her pups, attempting to garden, working on a variety of art projects, and practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

What Are Your hours of operation?

Pet Emergency Clinic is an after-hours animal clinic open all nights, weekends (12 noon Saturday until 7am Monday) and holidays – when your daytime veterinary clinic is closed. A veterinarian and staff are on-duty and ready to help you and your pet.

Do I need to make an appointment?

No appointments. Emergency after hours clinic ONLY.

Can I leave personal items with my pet?

Yes. We will do our best to keep track of your pet’s items during his or her stay but we cannot guarantee that the items will be returned. Therefore, sentimental items should be left at home. We have a variety of diets available but if your pet is on a special diet you can leave that with us.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Payments can be made by cash, check, debit and credit card.

Do you have a payment plan?

We offer CareCredit and Scratchpay.

Can I come to your office for routine care?

No, we are an after hours emergency clinic only. Please see your regular vet for routine care. 

Where do I take my pet for follow-up care?

Follow-up with your regular Veterianian.
